There's one number that decides whether your MSP business makes money: the spread. What you pay for your technology and what you charge your clients. The gap between the two is your entire business.
Many billing systems make that number a mystery until the invoice lands. You find out what you owe at the end of the cycle, reconstruct what each client should be billed, and hope your math matches reality. Guess low, and the spread eats your margin. Guess high, and you're overcharging the clients who trust you to get this right.
We built Iru’s MSP program to close that gap between what you charge your clients and what you owe per tenant. Here's what MSP Billing looks like, day by day, inside the product.
Day zero: setup
You’re used to moving fast, and provisioning on your own timeline. With Iru, you don’t need to wait on a team member or go through slow, manual processes.
Billing setup lives in the Partner portal page. If billing isn't set up yet, you'll see a Billing setup prompt the moment you open MSP Billing, or the moment you try to create a new tenant, since tenant creation waits until billing is configured.
Setup is two steps. First, your organization’s legal address. Second, your payment method: email, full name, and your bank account, searched and selected right in the flow. Confirm the details and click Done. All billing information is handled in a secure manner, and is not stored by Iru.
That's it. Automatic payment is active from that moment, and you're immediately clear to create tenants.
The first few days: your spread starts filling in
Right after setup, you'll see Your usage data will be ready soon until enough usage has been tracked to report on.
Once that data lands, the table fills in per tenant: Monthly Spend (est.) and Peak Devices (est.), confirmed daily, for every client under your parent account. This is not a parent-level total you have to divide up yourself, but the actual unit you bill against, tenant by tenant, updating as usage does. This helps you better understand which of your clients are profitable, and which are not.
Stay ahead: modeling cash flow
Iru MSP Billing runs on a commitment floor, with the ability to move up and down. You will be billed for what you use on a monthly basis, based on a high-water mark. You likely already understand this strategy from running a similar model for your customers.
Iru shows you estimated spend before the invoice lands, letting you anticipate costs and create a responsible fiscal plan, the same way your own clients want to be able to plan ahead for their own costs.
Get back to focusing on what matters
Once billing is live, most of what happens runs on autopilot, but is there for you when you need more information or to make changes.
- Organization changes. Company name or address changed? Edit it directly from MSP Billing, no ticket required.
- New bank account. Replace your payment method the same way you set it up: email, name, bank search, save. The old one stops, the new one takes over.
- Invoices, whenever you need them. Every invoice is listed and downloadable as a PDF, with a breakdown available in a side panel
None of this requires you to leave the Partner portal, and none of it touches the rest of your account. The gate only ever applied to the Billing page and to creating new tenants.
Billing visibility for your clients, too
MSP Billing itself only lives in the Partner portal, so your clients never see it directly. But on their side, their own Billing page in their tenant shows a simple, clear message: license management for their account is handled by their MSP.
The same clarity you get about your relationship with Iru is the same posture your clients get about their relationship with you, so nobody's left wondering who to ask.
The margin made visible
MSPs like yours have always run on the gap between what they pay and what they charge. What's changed is whether that number is something you have to reconstruct, or something you can just look at. Every client, every day, no guessing.
MSP Billing is live now for U.S. customers, with support for EU customers coming in a future update.
